Happy Memorial Day weekend! While the official start of summer isn’t until June 20, this annual holiday always feels like the unofficial kick-off. Enjoy those family cookouts, an extra day to get in some R&R or peruse our list of Top 5 events in Billings this weekend (Monday included!) and try something new. Movies, games, walks, and runs. Take your pick and have some fun.

**CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER** | #1 Billings Kiwanis Movies Under the Stars at ZooMontana 

Celebrate the last days of school with Movies Under the Stars! 

Friday night kicks off the first of several free outdoor movie nights hosted by the Billings Kiwanis and held once a month throughout the summer. This Friday’s screening will be Onward - a 2020 American computer-animated urban fantasy adventure film by Pixar. Rated PG it’s perfect for the whole family so bring a blanket and be ready to relax and have some fun. Concessions will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting various non-profits in Billings.

  • When: Friday, May 28 with gates opening at 7pm and movie at dusk

#2 Billings Mustangs Baseball Games at Dehler Park

Baseball is back in Billings and the season has officially started! What’s more American than baseball on a holiday weekend? Show some love to our Minor League baseball team as they take on the Rocky Mountain Vibes with home games all weekend long.

THE DETAILS

  • When: Friday and Saturday, May 28-29 at 6:35pm | Sunday and Monday, May 30-31 at 1:05pm
  • Cost: $6-$12

#3 Gaming for Paws at Oscars Park (3740 Wise Lane)

Support the Billings Animal Rescue Kare (B.A.R.K) at this fun day in the park. Games include live Texas Hold’em Poker or BINGO with cash prizes for both events. Or take your chance on the Wine Pull for Whiskers where $15 allows you to choose your own bagged bottle which might result in a nice bottle of Chardonnay or a Boone’s Farm’s finest. Claddagh Irish Dancers at 3pm, a dog costume contest and pup photo booth with food and alcohol for purchase. It’s sure to be the best Memorial Day “pawty” in town.

#4 Montana Warrior Run at Swords Park


It’s your chance to honor through sweat at the 8.5 mile Warrior Run which includes a combination of path and trail running over challenging hills and terrain. Or participate in the milder and scenic 5K Honor Run/Walk. Either way it’s a great opportunity to show your support for veterans at this American Legion Post 117 hosted event. If you haven’t pre-registered be sure to show up early on race day!

  • When: Saturday, May 29. Race starts at 9am
  • Cost: $45 Warrior Run | $35 Honor Run

#5 Hoof-It With a Historian at the Western Heritage Center

“Born A Railroad Town” is this week's walking tour theme as Billings' 1882 beginnings are explored. Learn how the city was split in two by railroad tracks running through the center of downtown and how the railroad continues to have an impact on Billings today. This walking tour runs about 1 hour and 20 minutes, requires comfortable walking shoes and an eagerness to learn about our history. Tickets may be purchased at the time of the walk.

  • When: Friday, May 28 from 10-11:30am
  • Cost: $10 adults, $5 students, children (under 12) free
