Behind every great renovation is a story, not just of beautiful design and craftsmanship, but of the people who make it happen. For Tom Boyce, owner of Boyce Built, that story began with a shared passion for home, hard work, and helping people love where they live.

Specializing in high-end residential renovations, custom home construction, and thoughtfully designed additions, Boyce Built has earned a strong reputation in Billings for its balance of creativity, precision, and integrity. A Foundation Built on Experience Tom’s journey into construction started long before Boyce Built became a household name. After moving from Bozeman to Billings in 2011, he jokes that he came here to “chase Heather,” his now wife. Tom worked for a local construction company before venturing out on his own. What began as subcontract work on exteriors quickly evolved into full-scale remodels and custom builds.

Tom and Heather married in 2013 and soon remodeled their entire home together. “It was a crash course in construction and design,” Tom says. “We realized how much we loved the process of transforming a space.”

From that first project, Boyce Built grew steadily through word of mouth. Their portfolio expanded from residential renovations to large-scale builds, including a 7,200-square-foot commercial space. Today, the company includes Tom, a project manager, a marketing coordinator, an office manager, on-site crew members, and a network of trusted subcontractors.

DESIGN INSIGHT & PRACTICAL ADVICE

While many homeowners come to Boyce Built with a clear vision in mind, others are still exploring what’s possible, and that’s where the team excels. With years of experience guiding clients through the renovation and building process, Boyce Built helps refine ideas, bring clarity to each stage, and ensure the final outcome reflects both function and style. However, Tom believes that for those seeking additional creative input, partnering with a Designer can enhance the aesthetic side of the project, helping select cohesive materials and finishes that tie everything together seamlessly.

Whether clients choose to collaborate with a designer or work directly with the Boyce Built team, the experience remains seamless and well-managed. Each project is approached with thoughtful planning, open communication, and expert craftsmanship to deliver a home that functions beautifully and feels distinctly yours.

The team’s advice is simple but seasoned: define your project’s investment goals, clarify your vision for the project, and work with professionals who value communication and collaboration. The more detail that’s discussed upfront, the more accurate the costs and the smoother the process. It’s an approach that has earned Boyce Built lasting relationships, steady referrals, and the trust of clients and partners throughout the Billings community.

TRANSFORMING A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

One of Boyce Built’s recent projects, a complete main-floor renovation for local homeowners in Billings, captures the company’s thoughtful approach and attention to detail. The couple had previously contacted Tom while still living in their former home, but ultimately decided to postpone the renovations. When they purchased their next property, they knew exactly who to call. “The homeowners reached out right after selling their last house,” Tom says. “They wanted to open up the floor plan, update the finishes, and make it feel truly theirs.”

The project included new flooring throughout, fresh trim, a fully redesigned kitchen and powder bath, a custom handrail, new appliances, and a show-stopping fireplace transformation. However, the biggest challenge and highlight was removing a structural wall to create an open, connected main floor. “That’s where the technical side of our work really shines,” Tom explains. “It’s not just cosmetic changes. We make sure every renovation is structurally sound and designed to last.”

In just four and a half months, Boyce Built delivered a space that felt completely reimagined, warm, modern, and functional, without sacrificing the home’s original character. “We always want it to look like it was meant to be that way,” Tom adds. “Our goal is for the old and new to blend seamlessly so it never feels like a renovation happened.”

LOOKING AHEAD

As Boyce Built looks to the future, Tom is excited to continue expanding while staying true to their roots. “We’re passionate about both new builds and renovations,” Tom says. “Every home tells a story, and we get to help write it.”

Ultimately, the Boyce Built team believes every project is a reflection of you: crafted with honesty, precision, and genuine care to create a home that feels personal, lasting, and unmistakably yours.

“We take a lot of pride in being honest and upfront with our clients from the start, we talk numbers early, set expectations, and focus on producing the kind of work we’d want in our own home.”
