Serve, Smash, Score: Indoor Pickleball in Rural MT

You may have heard that pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America. Because it requires minimal equipment and experience, it’s a sport accessible to nearly every age. Once seen as a game for older adults, the average age of a pickleball player is now 35. Thanks to its growing popularity, you can find players everywhere - even in rural Montana. Here are 5 places where you can play indoor pickleball on the outskirts.

BIG TIMBER - CIVIC CENTER, 301 HOOPER ST, BIG TIMBER, MT 

The Big Timber Civic Center has three indoor pickleball courts available for use. These courts are equipped with lights and nets, and players can use Playtime Scheduler to find and schedule games. 

RED LODGE - POLLARD HOTEL, 2 BROADWAY AVE, RED LODGE, MT 

The Pollard Hotel in Red Lodge, Montana, offers indoor pickleball on one of its racquetball courts, which is smaller than a standard court but provides a place for play. The hotel has also hosted specific events like lessons and open house sessions for the sport. For more general and current pickleball information, it's best to visit the Red Lodge Pickleball group on Facebook for open play times and other activities. 

COLUMBUS - STILLWATER YOUTH CENTER, 1036 EAST PIKE AVENUE, COLUMBUS, MT, USA 

The Stillwater Youth Center offers one indoor wood court. They have adapted an indoor racquetball court for pickleball, complete with tape lines, a portable net, and loaner paddles/ balls ready for you to use. While it's not a regulation-sized court, that's part of the fun! This smaller space will definitely test your accuracy and speed, making for some exciting and challenging games. MILES CITY – CENTRA, 2715 DICKINSON STREET, MILES CITY, MT 

There are 2 indoor courts. Tape lines have been laid, and portable nets are available. You can reserve the courts. A membership is required to play. Use the Pickleheads app to find games or reserve a court. 

LIVINGSTON - LIVINGSTON CIVIC CENTER, 229 RIVER DR, LIVINGSTON, MT, 59047 

There are 3 indoor wood courts. The lines are permanent, and portable nets are available. Players have access to restrooms and water. A one-time fee is required to play. Use the Pickleheads ap to find games or reserve a court.
