Billings Symphony Orchestra & Chorale Announces October Postponements

October 9, 2020 | by BSOC Media Release

BILLINGS MT-In response to the appeal from more than 230 Montana healthcare providers on the frontline, BSOC has decided to err on the side of caution in taking this extra step to help quell the spread of COVID-19. The Billings Symphony is sad to announce the postponements of the October 10 concert, Anything Goes: The Music of Cole Porter at the Babcock Theater and the October 24 and 25 performances of Shubert’s Unfinished featuring world-renowned cellist Amit Peled, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in Yellowstone County during the month of October.

The new date for Anything Goes is June 5, 2021, and the new date for Schubert’s Unfinished is tentatively scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20, 2021 at the Lockwood Performing Arts Center. All tickets will be honored for the postponed concerts.

The BSOC would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our patrons who made the success of Tchaikovsky & Beethoven, the BSOC’s Classic Series opening concert on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27 possible by adhering to the health and safety policies. You are the reason we play, and we appreciate your help. If we have learned anything during the past 7 months, it is that people have an undying thirst for live music. Our opening night proved that our patrons thoroughly enjoyed being able to experience the Symphony live once again. The BSOC hopes and plans to continue to quench this thirst, as long as we can do it safely and in accordance to the health and safety guidelines put in place by the BSOC’s Health and Safety Taskforce and our public health authorities.

The health and safety of our city is of the utmost importance. “The BSOC wants to take a step forward and postpone this concert in order to slow the transmission of COVID-19 in our community.” states Ignacio Barrón Viela, Executive Director of the Billings Symphony, “We hope the citizens of Yellowstone County will join in our efforts to flatten the curve and help prevent future postponements and cancellations.”

The Billings Symphony Orchestra & Chorale’s mission to Enrich Lives Through Music continues to be the driving force of our day to day. Now more than ever, we believe in the power of music to heal, sooth, teach, and inspire. We are diligently working to bring this power to the community in whichever way we can. Please help us by doing your part in keeping our beloved community safe, so we and others like us can keep the music playing.

All tickets for any concert that is postponed due to this pandemic will be honored for the rescheduled time. We understand this is not ideal and want to thank everyone for their compassion and understanding.  In Addition, West Side Story Symphony Concert Version has been rescheduled for May 22 and 23, 2021 at the Lockwood Performing Arts Center.

The concerts might be postponed, but Wine Down at Home BSOC's virtual wine tasting brought to you by City Vineyard, the Northern Hotel and CopyRight Printing is still on for Thursday, October 15 at 6:00pm!
