Everyday Wonder
“The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of life.”
-William Morris
There is so much beauty hidden in the details of everyday life if only our eyes are attuned to it. The shifting colors of leaves on the trees, the mountain view driving west on a clear day, the sound of laughter from those we love, the smell of coffee at sunrise, a stunning, cotton-candy sky at dusk… Rather than quietly absorbing these small wonders, let’s name them, becoming noticers of the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary. The way someone’s eyes light up when they speak about something they’re passionate about. How dreaming aloud with your partner can weave an unshakable bond. The effortless way someone assembles the perfect outfit or styles their home with a touch that feels like magic. How the presence of certain people makes you feel safe, loved, unhurried, and free to rest.
In this issue, we embrace the shift from summer to fall. Local fashionistas share their insights on building stylish, transitional wardrobes. We celebrate those bringing beauty to the Magic City through music, connection, and art. We introduce our 2025 Simply Amazing Teen, highlighting the many ways she gives back to our community.
As September marks Mental Health Awareness Month, we share expert insight into supporting teen mental wellness, from recognizing early signs of struggle to fostering open, judgment-free conversations at home and in the community. A health professional also offers practical ways to strengthen immunity this school year, helping families stay healthy and resilient throughout the busy months ahead.
For the foodies, we’ve curated perfect wine-and- charcuterie pairings, along with an introduction to a local baker and her fabulous fall offerings (plus a bonus recipe to try at home). Our home section offers tips for styling your front porch for autumn, and a peek inside one family’s stunning entertaining space, ready to welcome friends and neighbors as the seasons change.
This September, let us seek beauty in every moment. May we choose grace over judgment, finding what is lovely in others rather than what is lacking. May we extend forgiveness to ourselves (and to others) when we miss the mark. May we focus more on what we love than what we dislike. May our hearts remain tender and soft in a world that can be anything but. May our stories inspire and uplift. And may our eyes be open to opportunities to make a difference, one small act at a time. Because a happy life isn’t found in perfect circumstances or possessions, but in the simplest of daily moments spent noticing all the wonder the world has to offer.
Happy Fall!
Love,
