Entering Dress for Success (DFS) in downtown Billings is like walking into a classy boutique - except there is no need to check the budget when finding an outfit for an upcoming job interview. Clients are greeted with a smile by a stylish volunteer who is their personal shopper. The entire store is the clients for their appointment as DFS schedules one client at a time to give them their utmost attention. The personal shopper guides the client through the racks of trendy pieces and beautifully displayed ensembles, helps her pick flattering outfits, and encourages her to value herself as dignified and respected.

Is this a dream? To most, it truly is a dreamy opportunity. Dress for Success is the current recipient of Western Security Bank’s Hands of Hope grant. Megan Hamavard, the Executive Director of DFS, shared how this organization uplifts its clients, giving them the confidence they need to nail their job interviews and improve their situation with a shopping experience.

DFS receives referrals from Passages, HRDC, Family Promise, churches, and other organizations that see Dress for Success as a perfect fit for the women they serve. The women are scheduled for four appointments: the suiting for their interview outfit, an employment suiting after receiving their job offer, and two more suitings to set them up with a wardrobe so they can focus their efforts on success. It’s not just clothing; DFS provides new undergarments, hygiene products, vouchers for a haircut, sunglasses, and outerwear, all to ensure the client sees herself inside and out as beautiful, worthy, and successful.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of this organization. They meticulously choose top-notch clothes from donations, steam them to be ready to wear, and then display them with utmost care. The ladies also lavish clients with attention when they arrive for appointments, sharing styling tips, fashion ideas, and accessory details.

When asked how DFS would spend the Western Security Bank grant, Megan says they will purchase hygiene products and non-slip shoes for clients whose jobs require them. She also shares that their biggest need is volunteer time: “If all you have is two hours per week, we can use that to help our clients shop.”

Dress for Success has been in Billings since 2000 and has helped over 10,000 women find their perfect fit. On February 22, 2025, they will celebrate their 25th Anniversary at their annual gala, and they would love to have you there! Tickets are available at givebutter.com/c/sweetsuccess. Secure a table to bid at the silent auction, listen to the Dueling Pianos, and support this wonderful organization.
