Since 1988, Eagle Mount Billings has been helping children and adults with disabilities “embrace life without limits” through adaptive recreation. From adaptive skiing and snowshoeing to summer camps and cooking, Eagle Mount Billings brings adventure to participants from ages three to ninety-four who may not otherwise have access to these kinds of experiences.

“Children and young adults with disabilities, especially those from low-income families, face a complex web of challenges: limited access to enriching activities, increased risk of isolation and emotional distress, and heightened vulnerability to trauma and mental health concerns,” explains Eagle Mount Billings Executive Director Lynn Mullowney Cabrera. “Families often face financial strain, limited access to support, and high rates of caregiver burnout.”

For these individuals and all those living with various disabilities, Eagle Mount Billings provides a unique space of inclusion and adventure. “Our programs offer more than recreation,” says Lynn. “They offer dignity, hope, and belonging.”

HOPE IN MOTION

This season, Western Security Bank has named Eagle Mount Billings its newest Hands of Hope recipient. The grant will help expand Eagle Mount Billings’ “Adaptive Field Trips for All” program, which brings inclusive recreational outings to more than 400 students with disabilities from 25 Title I schools across Billings.

"These outings may seem simple: a morning at ZooMontana, cooking activities, snowshoeing in Red Lodge, but for the children we serve, they are profoundly life-changing,” explains Lynn. “Each experience offers a chance to build confidence, experience success, and feel a deep sense of belonging.”

HELP CREATE LIFE WITHOUT LIMITS

As the holidays approach, Eagle Mount Billings invites the community to join its Go. Give. Serve. Share. campaign.

Go: Visit a program or attend an event to see the joy of participants firsthand.

Give: When you donate this December, every dollar is doubled thanks to a generous $50,000 match.

Serve: Individuals as young as 12 years old can become program volunteers for Eagle Mount Billings’ year-round programs.

Share: Spread the word! Host a fundraiser or simply share their mission with those who may benefit. “Every conversation builds a more inclusive Billings,” explains Lynn.

This December, Eagle Mount Billings reminds us of what’s possible when our community comes together with open hearts and shared purpose. As Lynn says, “Together, we can make this season one of hope, belonging, and adventure for children and adults with disabilities.”
