St. Patrick’s Day Craft: End of the Rainbow Twirler

It seems, more often than not here in Billings, St. Patrick’s Day is cold and snowy. Rain, snow, or shine, we’ve got the perfect craft to do with the kids that’s sure to brighten any day! With the holiday right around the corner and gorgeous weather in sight, I wanted to make a craft that I could put up outside. This twirler is perfect, and even the younger kids can help!

Supplies

Paper plate
Paint (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple)
Black and yellow paper
Scissors
Glue

Instructions >>>

1. Start by having the kids paint one side of the paper plate with rainbow stripes. Let it air dry (or use a hair dryer) and then paint the opposite side with more rainbow stripes.

2. Using scissors, start at the outside of the plate and cut a continuous spiral.

3. Trace and cut out a pot using black paper.

4. Using yellow paper cut out circles to make the gold.

5. Glue the circles to the pot. Feel free to add some glitter!

6. Glue the pot of gold to one end of the paper plate spiral. (add tape to make it more secure)

7. Poke a hole in the middle of the plate spiral and add a string to hang it up.

Be sure to hang up the twirler where you can enjoy seeing it! I chose to have the kids paint this while we enjoyed the sun and then left it out to dry.
