Father’s Day in Germany finds the men spending all day together in the pubs drinking. Here in the US, it’s more traditional for dads across the country to be treated to a home cooked meal as their families honor them.
Organic beef sausage grilled on the barbecue with seasoned, fresh vegetables and jasmine rice is on our family menu this year as we celebrate our favorite dads. This is a nutritious, colorful, and tasty meal that dads everywhere are sure to enjoy!
Father's Day Grilling
Directions
- On a hot grill, start the sausages a sizzling! Take note as to whether your sausages are “pre-cooked” (meaning they just need to be heated) or “uncooked” raw meat (meaning they need to be cooked thoroughly on a medium grill for approximately 8 minutes with frequent turning).
- Clean and prepare dad’s favorite vegetables. Lightly drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle on your favorite seasonings, and put into a grill basket.
- Over medium heat, grill the vegetables with frequent tossing to prevent burning. I’ve used bell pepper, sweet onion, cherry tomatoes, and mushrooms.
- Cook your favorite rice. I like to toss mine with chopped cilantro as I dish it up for added flavor. I also like to add some yummy pickled ginger bites to the plate, which complement the savory sausages.
This is a quick and easy meal to prepare with limited pans for an easy cleanup. With a bit of luck, the weather will cooperate so we can enjoy some patio dining as we share some humorous and enduring memories of our fathers together. Add a favorite dessert and you’ve got a dad-pleasing meal in honor of his special day!
