Cheese Recommendations: Creating Your Own Platter

Preparing a cheese plate can be a daunting task (especially this time of year), but Anne Costilla, Marketing Manager at Lucky’s Market, makes the shopping process simple with these great cheese recommendations.  Don’t forget to add the crackers, bread, and accompaniments for a delicious starter to any meal.

Bloomy Rind Cheese: Bloomy Rind Cheeses include cheeses like French Camembert and Brie, which are covered with velvety white molds that ripen the cheese from the outside in.

Fromager D’ Affinois Brie-

A cow’s milk double crème French brie.  Smooth, rich, and creamy with amazing butter and slight earthy mushroom notes.  A true French brie, with traditional brie characteristics, but gentle enough to make just about anyone a brie lover.

Vehicle- a fresh baguette and or 34 Degree Crispbreads

Accompaniments- Seasonal fresh fruit, for Fall Honeycrisp apples are a must

Blue Cheese: Blue cheeses are ripened with cultures of the mold Penicillium and are characterized by green, grey, blue, or black veins or spots of mold throughout the cheese.

Long Clawson Stilton-

A cow’s milk, English blue with a firm, creamy texture.  Slightly fruity, nutty, and tangy amazing blue cheese with an earthy rind.  The unique combination of characteristics makes this one a favorite blue cheese.

Vehicle- No vehicle is required, but if desired, serve with Kii Naturals Date and Walnut Crisps, 34 Degree Crispbreads, or La Panzanella Crackers

Accompaniments- Pears, grapes, honey, walnuts, candied walnuts, dates, and figs (fresh or dried)

Dutch (Gouda) Cheese: Dutch Cheeses are a mild, yellow cheese and are named after cities in the Netherlands. The Gouda cheese is the most popular cheese in the world.

Parrano-

A phenomenal and irresistible cow’s milk gouda that thinks it’s Italian.  Mild, nutty, and slightly sweet taste with a smooth, slightly firm texture and tyrosine “those delicious crunchy, crystals.”

Vehicle- La Panzanella Crackers, 34 Degree Crispbreads

Accompaniments-  Apples, Dried Apricots, Fresh or Dried Cherries
