  • Local Students Adapt Fairytales. Oct 24-Nov 18. Billings Public Library. Third grade students from McKinley Elementary will have their work displayed on the Children’s Story Tower. They spent the last 4 weeks learning about writing narratives and working on expanding their writing with details to enrich a story. They have learned how to alter a classic fairytale into a new unique story. Come support these budding young writers!
  • Americans and the Holocaust Traveling Exhibition. Nov 8-Dec 20. Billings Public Library. A traveling exhibition that examines Americans’ responses to Nazism, war and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s. What did Americans know, and what more could have been done? The exhibition – from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. – also presents stories of individual Americans, some of whom took actions that went against the grain at the time, daring to rescue Jews from Europe. For more details and a list of related programs visit www.billingslibrary.org.
  • Montana SPARKS Exhibition. Dec 19-Jan 7. Billings Public Library Story Tower. Children’s book writers and illustrators from the Montana region will be teaming up to create a SPARK! of inspiration for children at the library. Inspired initially by the SCBWI-NM Enchantment Show and Erika Wilson’s Two Step Competition, the show began with an exhibition at the Kid Lit Festival earlier this year. There, the artists created a piece of artwork around the theme of “curiosity” and the writers spun a story inspired by the artwork. In this exhibition, the roles are reversed. Our writers have invented a one-page story based on the word “strength” and the illustrators have created a single image in response. We hope that the exhibition sparks your imagination to combine words and pictures for yourself!
  • Pet Supply Drive. Dec 1-31. Billings Public Library is holding a pet supply drive in support of B.A.R.K., a local nonprofit that is a 100% volunteer run animal rescue and shelter organization. Bring donations of gently used or new pet, toys, beds, leashes, collars, harnesses, cat toys, and unopened bags of treats and food to the first floor of BPL.
